MK677, is a potent growth hormone secretion agonist. It stimulates the body’s natural secretion of growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) by mimicking the action of Ghrelin. MK677 is often studied for its potential to enhance muscle growth, Verbesserung der Knochendichte, accelerate wound healing, and combat aging. In the research and experimental world, MK677 is usually in powder form, and understanding its solubility is crucial.
Glycerin (Glycerin), also known as glycerol, is a colorless, tasteless, viscous liquid, widely used in cosmetics, food, medicine and other fields. It has good moisture and high viscosity, and is also a common solvent. Jedoch, the solubility of glycerol varies from substance to substance, so in this experiment we will test the solubility of glycerol to MK677.
Because glycerin has a higher viscosity, as a rule of thumb, we do not start with 1ml, but with 10ml.
Add 10ml glycerin to 1g MK677 powder. Due to the high viscosity of glycerin, we used an ultrasonic shaker to assist the dissolution.
Jedoch, after standing, we found that half of the MK677 powder did not show obvious signs of dissolution.
To test whether the solubility could improve by increasing the amount of solvent, we directly add the glycerin to 20ml, thoroughly stirred it and left it to rest again. MK677 still not fully dissolved
To ensure experimental rigor, we increased the amount of glycerin directly to 50ml.
After stirring, it was observed that mK677 powder was not completely dissolved. This suggests that glycerol has a limited ability to dissolve MK677.
The results show that glycerol as a solvent for MK677 is not good solubility, even in a large proportion can not completely dissolve. Although glycerin is a safe and readily available solvent, it is not ideal for dissolving hydrophobic powders like MK677 due to its high viscosity and properties. Daher, glycerin may not be the best choice in an experiment that requires the dissolution of MK677.
In future experiments, we can try other solvents, such as PEG series or DMSO, to further optimize the dissolution scheme of MK677. If you are interested in testing other compounds or solvents, stay tuned for our follow-up or watch the full video on YouTube!
